Abstract :
An overhead line is an electric power transmission line suspended by towers or poles. Since most of the insulation is provided by air, overhead lines are generally the lowest-cost method of transmission for large quantities of electric power. The knowledge of cable impedances is very important for overhead line performances. Line-to-line impedances can be calculated with acceptable accuracy, but line-to-earth impedances have to be measured because the calculation does not fit within the real condition of the specific earth resistance with metallic pipes, cables and other metallic parts in the ground. This paper presents the laboratory testing of overhead line under various load conditions which is the no-load performances, matched-load performances, three - phase short circuit, and series and parallel compensation. The experiments are performed by using DELORENZO module with 380 V supply. The data collected from the experiments are then compared and discussed.
