  • Abstract
Dielectric resonator antennas (DRAs) have become one of the important research areas over the past decade. So far, most of the studies have concentrated on DRAs with relatively low dielectric constant (/spl epsiv//sub r//spl sim/10-30). Some previous research have found that rectangular and circular-disk DRAs of very high permittivity can also be used as efficient radiators. In this paper, a low profile aperture-coupled equilateral-triangular DRA using a very high dielectric constant material is presented. For a fixed operating frequency, when compared with rectangular and circular resonators, the size of the triangular resonator is the smallest. Thus, it is advantageous for an antenna array design since a larger range of spacing between elements is allowed.
