Abstract
We describe a new type of dielectric-filled waveguide antenna, the microstrip-like antenna (MLA), developed at Delft University. A mathematical model for its aperture admittance is derived, as well as a new airgap matching technique. A line-source model is developed to approximate the radiation mechanism. The MLA is proposed as an advance in antenna design, having the merits of microstrip antennas while eliminating some major disadvantages
