Abstract :
MKIDs are cryogenic (<;1K) detectors suitable for a broad range of wavelengths and combine a high sensitivity with an intrinsic high-multiplexing capability. We plan to use the knowledge acquired in the development of MKIDs to develop a passive stand-off terahertz imager for specialized security and biomedical applications. The imager will comprise of several subcomponents, such as the focal-plane detector array unit, cryostat, warm and cold optics. A mechanical design of a scanner and re-imager optics was developed and the first images, including those of biological subjects with a prototype imager using MKIDs haven been made.
