Abstract :
Terahertz (THz) semiconductor quantum devices and their applications to communication and imaging have been introduced. An ensemble Monte Carlo model is used to analyze the carrier transport and output characteristics of the THz quantum cascade laser (QCL). A THz quantum-well photodetector (QWP) has been used to characterize the emission spectrum of the THz QCL. We demonstrate the transmission of real-time audio signal and imaging based on the THz QCL and THz QWP.
