Abstract :
This work describes "terrestrial hybrid environment for verification of aeronautical networks (THEVAN)" testbed used to investigate and demonstrate techniques and suitable hardware for possible aeronautical use. We have demonstrated IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity and Internet services between the fixed hosts and mobile hosts inside THEVAN. The IPv4 tests demonstrated Internet services between mobile hosts on THEVAN and fixed hosts and that connectivity could be maintained while THEVAN was in motion and supporting multiple RF communication links such as Ku-band satcom, L-band satcom, VHF and 802.1 IB. The IPv6 tests demonstrated a functional IPv6 network existed between the THEVAN and the ground using multiple-physical mobile/fixed links.
