Abstract :
The legal aspects of electronic commerce have attracted widespread attention. Many organisations have expressed their concern regarding the legal framework of the Internet and electronic commerce in particular. For small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) electronic commerce presents other challenges than those recognised by legal experts. SMEs will have to learn to trade in global markets. This requires legal knowledge about international trade regulations and international trade contracts. We describe DocLog, an electronic contract representation language. DocLog uses concepts from deontic logic and legal knowledge representation research to accomplish this
