Abstract
One major feature of mobile cellular communication system is to maintain continuous connectivity with active users even when the mobile user moves from one cell to another. This is done by changing channel of one controlling base station to that of other. The process is called call handoff. In this paper a fuzzy logic based call handoff initiation process is proposed and its performance is studied. The algorithm considers the distance from base station, user velocity and path loss exponent as determining parameters. The algorithm is found to give satisfactory results.
