Abstract :
Suspended microstrip line on multilayer ferroelectric-polymer composite film is investigated to determine its dispersion and propagation characteristics. Full wave FEM simulator HFSS is used to determine propagating modes and their field configurations in this complex structure. Initial dielectric constant of the ferroelectric film (BaTiO3) is selected as 10 and it is varied up to 300. For low value of epsivr film (~10), this structure supports propagating mode similar to quasi TEM mode. But as we increase the value of dielectric constant of film, higher order modes starts propagating and the energy transmission takes place mainly through surface wave like modes and field lines of desired mode in the structure is concentrated in the high dielectric constant film layer and wave propagation is taking place through the dielectric.
