Abstract :
Electric power from wind energy systems is considered as an important generation alternative in the electric power systems around the whole world. A measure of the wind energy system´s performance is given by the amount of annual energy production. In the paper, an analytical model is developed to evaluate the main influence of the wind turbine´s reliability in the energy system performance. First, the analytical model evaluates the amount of annual energy production from a wind turbine, based on the Weibull distribution of wind speed and the power curve of wind turbine. Second, this model is employed in an analysis study of annual energy production from a wind farm, based on the number and the reliability indices of the wind turbine units.
