Abstract :
A computer-based method for measuring the stochastic properties of corona and partial-discharge pulses is described. Application of the method to ultraviolet sustained negative-corona (Trichel) pulses in air has shown the existence of strong correlations between pulse amplitudes and subsequent pulse time intervals as well as between amplitudes of successive pulses. The observed correlations are consistent with existing models for Trichel-pulse formation.<>
