Abstract :
An analysis of the possibility of increasing the concentration level to over 1000* while keeping or increasing cell efficiency is presented. Si and GaAs cells are discussed, and innovative concentrating approaches permitting multiple-gap cells are presented. A brief analysis of the thermal aspects of the problem is also given. It is concluded that efficiencies of 40% are achievable when these devices are properly combined.
