Abstract :
In this paper, a single-layer single-element probe-fed slotted plate antenna is presented, which features a broad impedance bandwidth and low cross-polarisation levels. Experiments on its input impedance and radiation patterns show that, by thickening air-filled substrate supporting the plate, the impedance bandwidth reaches up to the order of 20%. Both the stable radiation patterns and the low cross-polarisation levels, typically, lower than -20 dB are observed across the pass-band. The 5.7-7.9 dBi gains are also obtained within the pass-band.
