Abstract :
A DC/AC power inverter is described for use in stand-alone photovoltaic systems, based on the high-frequency sinusoidal pulse-width modulation principle. The switching frequency is 25 kHz, the nominal battery voltage is 48 V, the output voltage is purely sinusoidal 220 V (RMS) 50 Hz, and the rated power is 1.5 kW. The inverter is modular and has an efficiency of over 85%. The semiconductor switches are power MOSFETs, and the power transformer is of a high-frequency ferrite-core type. The power stage is of push-pull topology, and a symmetry correction circuit is incorporated in order to avoid saturation. The inverter is capable of supplying AC power for heavily inductive loads. This inverter has excellent output voltage regulation and frequency stability. It is noiseless, light weight, small, and exhibits an excellent dynamic response.
