Abstract
Static concentrators are investigated in conjunction with high-efficiency solar cells to reduce solar cell area, and thus cost significantly. Two means of light concentration are introduced, one resulting in a gain by a factor of two. Other static concentrator designs are introduced leading to concentration factors of up to ten. The limitations and energy losses of these concepts are analyzed.
