Abstract :
The results of comparative studies for PV concentrator modules are presented. The US Department of Energy (DOE) goals for photovoltaically generated energy are $0.12/kWh for the near-term (early 1990s) and $0.06/kWh for the year 2000. Based upon module cost projections supplied by six module developers, it is likely that the near-term goal could be met given sufficient production volume. Further cost reductions, which require innovative module designs, are necessary to meet the longer-term goals.
