Abstract :
The problem of designing a controller for a magnetic bearing is considered in this paper using H∞ optimisation. Classical criteria being unable to insure a satisfying closed loop behaviour, the input and the output of the flexible modes are used as supplementary degrees of freedom. Continuous-time and discrete-time syntheses are considered. The proposed approach allows to conveniently tune the closed-loop behaviour while satisfying severe constraints on the control capability
