Abstract :
A new topology of modular tubular motor is presented. It is a variable reluctance transverse flux machine with no permanent magnets. Firstly its construction is detailed. Some elements of the developed design algorithm are given, too. A sample machine was sized. It was analyzed by means of numeric field computations. The paper also contains a study concerning the influence of several parameters on the behavior of the machine. Finally, some possible applications are discussed.
