ISDN cost trajectory and tariffs

A discussion is presented of cost trajectories in ISDN, transmission and switching equipment, cost comparisons between ISDN and PSTN, tariffs, the predicted market for ISDN, and the positioning of ISDN. The economy of ISDN was thoroughly studied before the setting of the French tariffs for ISDN. In order to have a strong basis, no hypothesis was made as to the new resources that ISDN should bring to customers. In particular, no increase in traffic was considered and the use of ISDN for applications other than telephony was not taken into account for the financial balance.
