Abstract
Aim of the present work was to establish the kinetics of micronucleus (MN) induction in Vicia faba root tip cells on the genotoxicity of chromium trioxide (CrO3). The data indicate non-linear association between MN and exposure times in Vicia faba root tip cells. The maximal MN rate occurred at 24 h. The MN rates were increased in Vicia faba root tip cells from dose of 10-8 to 10-1 mol/L with treatment of upgraded degree of CrO3, and regression equations can received by dualistic nonlinear regression analysis. In the context, increased frequency of micronucleated Vicia-celte is a useful biomarker of genotoxic effects that can reflect exposure to CrO3 with clastogenic and aneugenic modes of action.
