Abstract
The authors present an algorithm to detect endocardial contours on echocardiographic images. This algorithm includes an optimal local edge detection followed by a discrimination operation to select relevant edge points. This last stage is based on an edge dynamical model which takes into account global properties of the ventricular contours. The algorithm was applied on images which displayed a cross-section of the left ventricle along its short axis
