Abstract :
Based on the observed lighting channel, the model of the fractal lightning channel is formulated in this paper, and the effect of lightning channel tortuosity on the associated electromagnetic (EM) fields in time domain is simulated. The results show that at close distances the dependence of EM fields on azimuth is significant. With the increase of distance, the dependence on azimuth weakens. Lightning HF radiation may be due to the channel tortuosity.
