  • Abstract
Human eye is susceptible to rapid voltage fluctuations of power system, which is termed as `voltage flicker´. Voltage flicker causes psycho-physical discomfort to humans. It is quantified by short term flicker severity index (Pst) according to IEC standards. Electric arc furnaces (EAF) are one of the main flicker sources in the power system. In this paper, voltage flicker caused by the operation of both single and multiple EAFs on the power system has been considered. A comparative analysis of flicker phenomena has been made by estimating Pst under variations of several modelling parameters and operating conditions.
