Abstract
The paper presents a study on a Ka-band multi-beam active phased array antenna for communications satellites. We consider fully active phased array technology for beam flexibility. This antenna system currently employs four independent simultaneous spot beams in the uplink and the downlink respectively. The targeting service area is confined to most of the Asia region. For the first step of this study, a 4×4 array transmit antenna has been designed and is introduced.
