  • Abstract
    A computer program has been developed for the design of transformers to withstand impulse voltages. It contains novel features including the calculation of relative electric field intensities. The program is intuitive in its use and has a flexibility that will allow future enhancements. The application is to concentric core form, disk coil high voltage windings, including the interleaving of all or part of the coils. Comparisons of measurements and calculations are presented. We demonstrate the effect on the voltage stresses of the time of the front of wave, insulation treatment, and chopping of the wave
