Abstract :
Pb uptake, accumulation and tolerance of ten cultivars (S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7, S8, S9 and S10) of Cruciferae were investigated with water culture. Three strategies of Pb uptake and accumulation were found in the ten cultivars: root exclusion strategy, accumulating less Pb in both root and shoot (<500 mug/g DW) (S4); shoot exclusion strategy, accumulating large amounts of Pb in root (>1 000 mug/g DW) and less in shoot (<1 000 mug/g DW) (S1, S2, S7 and S8); hyperaccumulating strategy, accumulating large amounts of Pb in both root and shoot (>1000 mug/g DW) (S3, S5, S6 , S9 and S10). S3, S4, S4, S8 and S9 have high Pb tolerance and S1, S2, S5 and S7 have low Pb tolerance.
