Abstract :
This paper presents the system perspective of BC Transmission Corporationpsilas (BCTC) strategy and experience with the EMS based Remedial Action Schemes (EMS-RAS) system. The automated centralized intelligence RAS has been successful since its implementation in 1994 in providing improvement in reliability and transfer limits. Three examples are provided to illustrate the EMS-RAS capability and flexibility with specific examples of transfer increases.
