Abstract :
In the present study, Eudragit L100 was successfully spun into ultrafine fibers using electrospinning process. The electrospinnability of Eudragit L100 in DMAc, ethanol, methanol, and the mixed solvents of DMAc and methanol with different ratios were examined. The morphologies of the as-spun Eudragit L100 fiber mats were observed using SEM. The results demonstrated that Eudragit L100 was able to be electrospun into ultrafine fibers when the solvents were ethanol, methanol, or mixed solvents of DMAc and methanol with ratios of 80:20, 60:40, 50:50 and 40:60. The fiber mats electrospun from 25% (w/v) Eudragit L100 in a mixed solvents of DMAc and methanol with a ratio of 80:20 had the best morphology. The results obtained here are very useful for preparing ultrafine medicated Eudragit L100 fibers and the corresponding colon-targeted or sustained-release drug delivery systems.
