Abstract :
Demand for renewable energy resources are considerably increasing due to the decline of fossil fuels and various environmental issues. In remote areas, there is a wide availability of solar energy, when they are properly harnessed, they can be used to serve industrial as well as residential loads. Induction motors are the workhorses for industrial applications. MPPT algorithm is used to track the maximum power from the PV panel. A boost converter is used for MPPT applications due to high performance compared to other DC-DC converters. A novel single source five level inverter is used to converter the input DC voltage from renewable energy sources to AC voltage. Single source five level inverter reduces the THD, switching losses and improves the inverter efficiency. AC output from the single source five level inverter is used to drive the induction motor.
