Abstract
An automatic test system, which allows characterization of linear induction motors (LIM), is proposed. The validation of the mathematical model of the motor based on special test methodologies has been carried out by using test apparatus which allowed the direct measurement of some quantities, such as air gap flux density and thrust, and the estimation of nondirect accessible quantities, such as the current density in the secondary sheet. Experimental results are presented related to the use of the proposed measurement system on a double sided LIM prototype
