Abstract :
We propose a simple offset-error-free micromachined 2times2 optical add-drop module (OADM) with attenuation controllability. By the diagonal motion of two V-type micromirrors, the OADM switch controls optical paths as well as attenuation. The fabricated OADM showed insertion losses of 1.9 dB, and on/off contrast of 70 dB. The difference of the optical power between the channels was within plusmn0.1 dB for a 50 dB attenuation range. The wavelength dependent losses were less than 0.3 dB, 1.3 dB, 1.4 dB at the attenuation of initial state, 10 dB, and 20 dB, respectively
