Abstract :
The development of a charge coupled device CCD near infrared (NIR) temperature imaging technique is discussed. The authors describe the CCD NIR temperature imaging system configuration and the calibration approaches to achieve absolute temperature measurement. The CCD NIR sensor only measures relative temperatures. Therefore appropriate calibration methods are required to measure absolute temperature. Several successful applications of the CCD NIR imaging technique have been implemented in areas such as the coke ovens, sinter plant, hot plate and strip mill production lines. These steel industry applications are outlined
