Abstract :
The PD pattern and PD current shape changed with time, and were related to each other. The combination of current shape change with PD patterns is expected to improve the reliability of insulation degradation. The first PD in the “rabbit-like” pattern was streamer-like and different from the others. This suggests that the first PD takes place under a large overvoltage and its mechanism is different from the others even at the same degradation stage. The PD current shape and magnitude depended on void size, which suggests the possibility of diagnosis of void size and shape. Further study on PD pattern and PD current shape is required to clarify the relationship between the degradation and PD characteristics and realize reliable insulation diagnosis
