Abstract :
The authors define well-defined and ill-defined signal processing targets (IDSPTs) in measurement applications. The literature on electroencephalograph analysis techniques is reviewed briefly and is used to show that EEG measurement introduces problems in the IDSPT case. Some responses to the IDSPT character of EEG interpretation are reviewed. A set of measurement system guidelines for addressing the IDSPT case are presented
