A Service-Based Framework for Pharmacogenomics Data Integration

Data are central to pharmacogenomics research and practices. However, due to the heterogeneous problems in data formats, structures and semantics, it is hard to integrate the diversified data that grow explosively and analyze them comprehensively. As more and more public databases are accessible through standard protocols like programmable interfaces and Web portals, Web-based data integration becomes a major trend to manage and synthesize data which are distributed located. The paper proposes a service-based framework to enable queries across various distributed databases in a way that the pharmacogenomics researchers are transparent to the heterogeneous data sources. The research introduces the mashup concepts and technologies for cross-querying and correlating the multi-dimensional data and information over the Internet.
