Abstract
As the quantity of data stored in legacy enterprise systems increases, the re-engineering of the database layer in such systems becomes more important. Data is often the most valuable artefact in a system and unlike software it may not be replaceable. In collaboration with an industrial partner, Science Warehouse, a number of research problems in this area will be addressed. This extended abstract summarises the motivation for the project, its research questions, and the plan for addressing them.
