Abstract :
This paper describes the impact of indoor/outdoor PCS applications for D1900 micro cell radio networks. The effects of building penetration losses Li and the ratio of indoor to outdoor subscribers Pi are investigated with respect to frequency reusability i.e. spectrum efficiency. A radio network simulation model is presented that allows to calculate the cochannel interference location reliability for indoor/outdoor applications. The impact of power control is taken into account by using a DCS 1800 like power control algorithm. Our simulation results show that Li and Pi are critical radio network parameters leading to very high cluster sizes for typical parameter values. We further demonstrate how power control dramatically improves the cochannel interference protection and therefore spectrum efficiency
