Abstract :
This paper presents a concept of distributed sensor system (DSS). The structure and functions of DSS are given. Based on the sensor network, DSS may realize the detection of complex information with the cooperation of each sensor in the system. DSS can synthesize the signal processing technique, sensor data fusion methods and artificial intelligence technique etc. to solve the difficult sensing problems. Unlike a common sensor, the output of DSS will be a set of information including some inferable results. The information society would need more and more DSS in the future
