Abstract :
To investigate a possibility of electrical control of a drug in a tape for percutaneous absorption, an infrared absorption spectrum by using a Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and space charge distribution using by a pulsed electroacoustic method were measured. From the measurement of an infrared absorption spectrum, it was recognized that a sample with the drug showed an absorption peak around 800 cm-1 while that without the drug did not. But the peak around 800 cm-1 appeared of the tape without the drug, which was separated from multi-layer tapes consisting of layers with or without the drug after the multi-layer was subjected to DC constant field. In the space charge measurement, the positive charge was formed in the tape without the drug under DC constant field, while the negative charge was formed in the tape with the drug. It was also observed that negative charge, which might be corresponding to the drug, moved from the layer with the drug to the layer without the drug in the experiment using the multi-layer sample. From these results, it was suggested that there was a possibility that the electrical field would control the movement of the drug.
