Abstract
Optical burst switching (OBS) has been proposed to be a promising switching technology for the next optical transport network. We present an analytical model to study the performance of TCP traffic in OBS networks. A novel acknowledgment mechanism is proposed to provide loss detection and error recovery mechanism for an OBS network. The analytical and simulation results show that our mechanism can lighten burst loss ratio for TCP flow and improve the performance of the OBS network.
