Abstract

We propose the service node system (SNS) with a three-layered architecture which consists of information transport layer (ITL), distributed association layer (DAL) and service control layer (SCL) in order to effectively accommodate various new services as well as the existing services based on broadband networks. We also propose a service platform functional structure with service protocols that can provide the basic call and the connection capabilities of a B-ISDN signaling system. The service protocols offer various multimedia services, service routing and service guidance (in ATM networks) to providers and consumers
