Abstract
UHF land mobile radio applications cover a wide frequency range and a wide corresponding percentage bandwidth. Moreover, it is desirable to cover this wide frequency range with the fewest possible different models. A novel architecture and frequency plan is discussed here which produces significant performance advantages for this type of radio. A procedure is outlined for choosing the frequencies of the frequency control devices which either places key spurious out of the radio operating band or minimizes their in-band contribution. Also important is the knowledge that the resulting high frequency crystal devices could be built in production.
