Abstract :
The arc which develops on the icing layer has its own characteristics and is quite different from the arc on the contaminated layer. By using the icing flashover model on a triangle plate, comparison between the characteristics of flashover on icing layer with different melting duration and different icing water conductivity were conducted. The melting water conductivity has a big influence on the flashover voltage. Flashover process of the icing surface was recorded by camera. It helps to develop an standard test methods for icing flashover in the insulator strings.
