Abstract
A novel distance measure is proposed for multilevel coding (MLC) with parallel decoding of levels (PDL) and BP mapping. Balanced distances rule is given as the rate design rule to design the optimal multilevel coding. The new mapping methods BP-BP is applied in MLC/PDL with MQAM. The efficiency has been well demonstrated by detailed simulation results. According to the new distance measure, BP-BP mapping and BDR, a MLC/PDL with MQAM system is constructed with good performance, short time delay and low decoding complexity. This is a better scheme when capacity rule isn´t applicable for MSD.
