  • Abstract
    For a large phase difference between carrier input and the output of VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) of PLL (phase lock loop), highly nonlinear and periodic characteristics are imposed on the phase detector. Loss tracking arises. A method using an energy detector and a back-propagation neural network as controller in PLL is proposed to solve the problem. In this approach, the frequencies of the carrier input and VCO are acquired by energy detector, and the frequency-tracking is achieved by the neurocontroller. When the frequencies are tracked, the phase error will be eliminated by PLL. According to the result of simulation, this approach can not only track varying frequencies of carrier input, but also can quickly lock the phase
