Abstract :
The paper first addresses the importance of laboratory sessions in engineering education and then describes the existing problems in Hong Kong due to the limitation in time, space and equipment. Such problems may result in accidents during the laboratory sessions. Multimedia produces a good means of briefing the students before the experiments are carried out and it not only replaces the conventional laboratory manuals that are boring but also enhances the interests of students experiments. One example has been described in detail for illustration. The system developed not only fulfils all the basic requirements of a multimedia system and conveys all important information to the students but it is very cost effective and affordable by almost all students in Hong Kong
