Abstract
This paper presents a study on sea monitoring using remote sensing data. Dual-Polarimetric Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images, acquired by COSMO-SkyMed satellites, are analyzed. A dataset of eight images acquired over Tyrrhenian Sea near Rome are used for the experiments. After a preliminary statistical analysis, an example of fast data-fusion and display is presented, able to visually enhance the added value of polarimetric couples in the analysis of marine phenomena. This work is framed in the context of the project “Development of Imaging and Monitoring Methodologies based on the use of COSMO-Skymed SAR Data - ID 2246”, funded by the Italian Space Agency.
