Abstract :
Tests were made on several types of air gaps in order to support the revision of IEC 60.1/1973, for studying the atmospheric correction parameters. To verify the new correction factors, several dielectric tests were done on station post glass insulators, with different atmospheric conditions. The results were corrected using the IEC 60.1/1973, the revision dated December of 1987, and the exponent curves suggested by A. Pigini et al. (1983) and plotted as disruptive voltage (U50%) versus the ratio between the absolute humidity and relative air density (H/RAD). The graphics obtained can be used to verify whether the correction factors are properly dimensioned. When it occurs, the straight line obtained by the application of linear regression must be parallel to the axis of H/RAD variation (that is to say, the value of the inclination is equal to zero) and the range of U0 (the value of U50% when H/RAD is equal to 11 g/m3) must have the smallest width possible
