Abstract :
While Peer-to-Peer, Web Services and related ideas such as e-Sourcing, evolved in commercial computing, the emerging Grid infrastructure unfolded in the scientific community. All result from evolution towards universal networking and commoditization of processors, storage, and operating systems. The Grid metaphor has momentum in the e-Science market, and it could become a disruptive platform for e-business. In these environments the word "Grid" is recognized where phrases such as "e-Utility" and "Intelligent Infrastructure" are not, but the concept is much the same.
