Abstract
Multi-agent systems have been proposed for creating large grid computing systems. This paper investigates the performance and scalability of the Contract Net protocol. We have developed a testbed multi-agent system and measured the task execution times under different agent load. The paper shows how the system response time depends on the number of agents and the deadline value.
